As expressed by Bette Davis’ char- acter in the classic 1943 flm “Old Acquaintance”: “Tere comes a time in every woman’s life when the only thing that helps is a glass of Champagne.” Falling in love with the charm of sparkling wine and champagne, one woman decided to try and capture this magic by opening a champagne lounge bar and naming it Sparkle. Patrons who visit their Gangnam location are welcome to try one of the 200 varieties of champagne that the bar showcases, not to mention one from their full stock of new and experimental sparkling wines. As of next March, the lounge will also be featuring 13 new wines from a small-scale winery in the Champagne re- gion of France that is known as the creator of RM champagne. Unlike other sparkling wines in the region, the “RM” label marks the wine as a Grower Champagne, meaning it has been produced by the same estate that owns the vineyards. Sparkle’s appreciation of classic taste is exemplifed in their appetizers, which have all been selected to perfectly accompany their wines. With oferings such as strawberries, caviar canapés and cheeses, they have taken the guesswork out of pairing food and drink. To accommodate guests who are not familiar with champagne, the lounge even provides a picture list with descriptions and tasting notes. 02 547 3001 Seoul, Kangnam-gu, Sinsa-dong, 532-4, Masa Building, 2nd floor If coming from Exit 5 of Apgujeong Station, walk straight until you are directly opposite from Sinsa Middle School and turn left.
